"Inchworm.....Inchworm...

Measuring the marigolds
Could it be, stop and see
How beautiful they are...."

Each time I see an inchworm, it reminds me of that song - sung by Danny Kaye in Hans Christian Andersen. Ahhh the simple moments of childhood. I am sure if I started singing that to my students at school they would look at me as if I was an inch worm!

Here is my cutsie card that got me a pretty blue ribbon at the fair. I really loved how the colors work so well together. You may recognize the base from my Taylored Expressions Blog Hop entry from a few weeks ago. I wasn't really happy with how it turned out (shame on me for waiting until the last minute!). So, I took it apart and changed it up a little. Glad I did!

Thanks for looking!

Oooey Gooey Goodness

Mmmmm.......isn't this cinnamon roll just the most delicious sight! And this, my friends, is not just any ol' cinnamon roll - this is a Sandwich Fair cinnamon roll. This big mama made it all the way home so I can take a picture to show you. Lots and lots of butter was added to make this roll (it isn't even worth thinking about calories at this point) Now the plate looks a lot different - lol! Every year I just have to get one of these babies and loosen my belt after I'm only halfway done. I also have some great news! I one two blue ribbons for my two scrapbook entries. One for a general greeting card (pictures to come) and the other for the baby frame I posted a few days ago. So thanks to all who crossed their fingers and toes - you may uncross them now!

I have a few new items in the works that I can't wait to share. I am working on a little somethin somethin for the upcoming Crafty Secrets challenge. Can you believe Halloween is close to a month away?

Stay tuned....

I think mine wins the prize! I came home today with a package on my doorstep....and look what was inside!! Tons of vintage goodies! Doilies, laces, jewelry....I was surrounded with so many beautiful items my fingers were doing the happy dance! I just can't wait to use them all! I already have one put aside for a vintage Halloween layout I'm working on.

So thank you mom! You made my week!!

Beautiful Baby Girl

In just a few days, our local county fair will begin. Each year, I look forward to gorging myself on cinnamon rolls, fried pickles, eclairs, thick milkshake - just to name a few! But this year I won't only be eating - I will be sharing my "wares" so to speak. This year, I decided to enter not only ONE but THREE of my items in different crafty categories. And maybe....just maybe...I'll come home with a prize!

For my first entry, I decided to enter a category that asks for a scrapbook layout for the wall. I decided to make a baby girl frame for this one. Now I might be biased, but isn't she just the cutest baby ever? She is the newest addition to our friends Marcie and Dave and I thought this picture of her would be perfect to use as my inspiration.

The frame has been painted with an undercoat of white, then crackled, with a topcoat of baby pink. A nice thick pink ribbon is being used as the hanger. Melissa Frances and K&Company papers re layered, inked, stained, and stitched.

Many gorgeous Crafty Secrets products have been used in this design. I just love the soft vintage feel they give this project. I used images from Baby Girl Homespun Cotton Scraps, Joys of Life Titles & More Vintage Booklet, & Babyland Vintage Cuts. I also added vintage lace, buttons, pink German glass glitter, and a stick pin with a few extras!

Hope you enjoy! Stay tuned for my next fair listing!

Just a little more...

Ok....I promise I won't bore you with anymore new pictures of my new studio - after today - lol! So here you can see I added quite a few things to my counters. I tried to keep everything around the perimeter so it is out of my way, but close enough to grab in a jiff! The wires will be hidden next week with new outlets (yippee)!

The pictures below show you how I organize many of my little odds and ends. Maybe it will help inspire you to organize this weekend! ;o)

Here is the inside of the cabinet where you can see 8 shallow drawers.
So I keep border punches....

powders & glitters...
sewing goodies, etc.!

And here is a view of my ever growing ribbon collection. As you can see it is getting a little "overgrown" so I should probably reorganize it soon. I tend to color coordinate many of my scrapbook supplies - since it how I tend to plan my designs. Plus it's eye catching!

Hope you enjoyed this week's sneak peeks into my studio!

My New Studio

Don't you love it when a plan comes together? For awhile now I've been trying to maximize my design studio....and it usually would work - at first. But I always found myself just not crazy about the arrangement. So one day my husband comes into my room and came up with a plan, sketched it out, measured, and took me to Home Depot to do some shopping! (He is amazing - I know!). So after perusing the many different selections (most not in our budget - lol!), I found the perfect counter and cabinet combo for my little room of paradise.

I wanted to make sure I utilized as much "stuff" that I already had that I could. So I did a little shopping in the other rooms of my house and garage (the treasure trove) and found many goodies to add to my space. I also did a lot of flea market shopping :o)

I am really happy at how it turned out (and very lucky to have such a handy husband to put it all together for me!) We are just waiting for a friend of ours to add a few electric outlets along the wall so I don't have wires reaching from all corners of the earth (a HUGE pet peeve of mine!) Now everything has it's place (thanks to a much needed "clean sweep") and it only takes me 5 min. to clean-up after a project!

More picture of organization to come...
